Why is Math Important
- First, math is the foundation of all science subjects that your child will have to master in middle and high school, as well as college.
- Second, admission to many leading colleges depends upon completion of several honors and AP courses. Competition for such classes is always intense and begins as early as 6th and 7th grades through successful completion of IM, Algebra I, and Geometry.
- Third, a quick look at the SAT and graduate school aptitude tests demonstrates why a superior math ability pays off.
- It becomes increasingly hard for your child to stay ahead of the gam without extra help.
- As a parent, you may or may not have the time or the confidence to ensure your child's success in his or her math class.
Why Learning Centers and Regular Subject Tutors Are Often Not Helpful
- Learning centers are simply not as effective as one-on-one tutoring since teaching is usually conducted in group of 3 to 7 students who are not always on the same level of math. Also, to save costs, learning centers prefer to use computerized programs, which, although unique to the center, are not customized to the needs of your child.
- Hiring just a regular subject tutor may not help in the long run. Many tutors are inexperienced in helping students learn the effective study/time management tools that are necessary to give your children a long-term competitive advantage in the classroom. Math is not just about memory - without developing sound understanding of the underlying concepts, the student can fall easily behind.
How Intelligenius Can Help Your Child
- By working together with you and your child to set challenging but attainable math objectives so that he/she is on the college fast track with respect to all math-related disciplines.
- By conducting Gap and Competencies Analyses to discover areas that need to be worked on the most and the most effective ways to achieve those desired goals.
- By providing instant feedback on why your child is having difficulty with a concept and providing alternative explanations and techniques that will help him or her to overcome that difficulty.
- By providing one-on-one math tutoring that can be customized to fit the individual needs of your child, whether he or she wants to get ahead of the pack or catch up.
- By preparing in advance particularly difficult material before your child gets to it in school.
- By providing a monitoring program that identifies critical areas that may have been forgotten by your child.
- By providing additional opportunities to practice problems for tests and analyze what went wrong on previous tests.
- By developing and reinforcing effective study skills that will help your child be in the best position to tackle math for the rest of their school career.

Since 1990, she has been working in consulting, training, and employee development, and has extensive experience teaching students from all levels, including Middle and High schools, but also undergraduate and post-graduate students.
Dr. Clempson is passionate about helping her students achieve their highest educational potentials to enable them to become successful and well-adjusted adults.
Her interest in working with grade school students was sparked when her older son started middle school. She wanted not only to help her child gain academic success but also develop a capability in math that would allow him to cope throughout his middle/high school career.
She has decided to offer her assistance to other children under the umbrella of her business venture, Intelligenius, whose primary mission is to help children and young adults to succeed academically. Throughout several years of teaching, Dr. Clempson has successfully helped a number of middle and high school students succeed in advanced, honors, and college-level math courses and better prepare them to be successful in college.

Wall Street Journal: Improve Your Chance for Top College Picks
This year, forgoing college aid applications may actually boost the chances of getting accepted.
With college endowments not yet fully recovered from the recession and a greater number of needier students, many schools are starting to rein in their generosity. The top students still will be heavily recruited, experts say, but as schools face greater financial strains, borderline applicants with fatter wallets stand a better chance of getting in.

Amid greater financial pressures, colleges are scaling back their financial-aid packages to students in ways that are likely to give wealthier families an admissions edge.
Some colleges, such as Williams College, Middlebury College and Wake Forest University, are no longer "need blind" when it comes to admitting international or wait-listed students. Some of these schools and others have recently dropped out of the so-called 568 Presidents' Group--a group of private colleges that agree, among other things, to be need-blind in their admissions of all U.S. students. Still other elite institutions, including Stanford University, Yale University and Dartmouth College, that still have a need-blind admissions policy in place for all U.S. students have adjusted their aid formulas in ways that are raising costs for affluent families.
